Counter-Strike at IEM Katowice recorded as the most watched non-Major!

With almost 10 million hours of content watched, the recent US$250,000 Intel® Extreme Masters Katowice Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament is officially the most-watched non-Major the game has ever seen. After intense qualifiers and shock upsets, it was ultimately Fnatic that beat out Luminosity Gaming for the World Championship title in front of an at-capacity Spodek Arena. – Get a breakdown of all the in-game stats with our overview infographic here.

“We’ve had a season filled with some absolutely fantastic Counter-Strike action – from NA contenders facing off with home ground advantage in San Jose to local teams giving established ones a run for their money in Taipei,” said Michal Blicharz, VP Pro Gaming at ESL. “Katowice was no exception and as a result we see the CS:GO competition there become by far the most-watched non-Major of all time. To have that happen the year the game returns to Intel Extreme Masters is phenomenal.”

VODs of all the games can be found on ESL’s YouTube Channel, with pictures from the event available in our Flickr gallery. As we prepare for the next season of Intel Extreme Masters, you can keep up to date with all the on-going Counter-Strike action elsewhere (and more!) over on ESL Gaming.

Full IEM Katowice numbers will be available in the coming days.
