PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Makes Its Intel® Extreme Masters Debut In Oakland This November

ESL and Bluehole team up for the $200,000 IEM Oakland – PUBG Invitational. PUBG officially joins IEM Oakland, becoming the 12th competitive gaming title in the global tournament series.

PUBG Corporation, developer and publisher of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) and ESL, the world’s largest esports company, today announced the continuation of their partnership for the Intel® Extreme Masters Oakland – PUBG Invitational. 20 teams from North America and Europe will battle for their share of a $200,000 prize pool on November 18-19, 2017.

“Everyone’s been waiting for the title that will come in and be a game changer for esports and it seems like PUBG could be it,” said Michal Blicharz, Vice President Pro Gaming at ESL. “It’s different, it’s new, and it’s growing at an unprecedented rate. We’re thrilled to be giving the game its competitive debut in North America.”

“We hope this serves as another excellent opportunity to experiment with a different format,” said Changhan Kim, Chief Executive Officer of PUBG Corporation. “It is essential that we gain experience from events like gamescom PUBG Invitational and Intel® Extreme Masters Oakland in order to take the right steps in the future.”

This past August, players and influencers competed in the gamescom PUBG Invitational Presented by Bluehole and ESL—the first offline invitational for PUBG. The IEM Oakland – PUBG Invitational will be ESL’s second installment of the game, and both Bluehole and ESL are working to improve the tournament experience.

IEM Oakland 2017 ticket holders can watch two days of top-tier PUBG live in the Oracle Arena. 10 invited teams and 10 qualified teams will battle for their share of the $200,000 prize pool. The event will be broadcast on Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and additional digital and linear platforms this November. Stay tuned for more updates on online qualification and tournament format.
